Hongjiang Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone (Hongjiang District) was established in 2005, with a planned area of 220.13 hectares. In 2020, it was approved as the Hongjiang Fine Chemical New Material Characteristic Industrial Base under the China Torch Program and Hunan New Industrialization Industrial Demonstration Base. The development zone is home to 21 high-tech enterprises, 13 provincial new material enterprises, two national “little giant” enterprises, 12 provincial “little giant” enterprises, one “benchmark enterprise” recognized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and one national green factory. It has formed an industrial pattern featuring one leading industry (new chemical materials) and one characteristic industry (biomedicine).
