Hongjiang Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone (Hongjiang City) was established in 2008. It was approved as a provincial industrial concentration zone in 2012 and upgraded to a provincial high-tech industrial development zone in 2019. It is the first approved high-tech industrial development zone in Huaihua that was established in a county-level city. The development zone has a planned area of 3.2 square kilometers, with factory buildings covering an area of 65,000 square meters. It is home to 154 enterprises, including 62 industrial enterprises above the designated size, 24 high-tech enterprises, three provincial enterprises that use special and sophisticated technologies to produce novel and unique products, and three enterprises ready to go public. The development zone has formed an industrial development pattern with bio-based materials, prefabricated buildings, electronic components, and petrochemical logistics as leading industries.
