In 2023, there were 25 enterprises above the designated size in the bio-based industrial chain, with a total output value of RMB4,164 million and a tax revenue of RMB64 million. These enterprises, led by Hunan Juntai New Material Technology Co., Ltd., develop such products as lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose, special cellulose and bamboo-based composite materials and expand the application of bio-based cellulose in fiber yarn clothing, mid-to-high-end paper products, degradable plastics and city pipe networks. Huaihua focuses on promoting the development of cellulose product production bases, with Huaihua Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone as the core area; actively facilitates the development of the bamboo processing characteristic industrial parks in Jingzhou County, Huitong County and Hongjiang District; moves faster to develop bio-based functional materials and products production bases, especially in Mayang County, Xinhuang County and Hongjiang City; and expands the application of bio-based functional materials in pharmaceutical products, food processing, furniture and building materials, flavors and fragrances, and household chemicals relying on such functional materials as high-purity deproteinized latex, formaldehyde-free adhesives, instant polyvinyl alcohol, bio-based oil and bio-based plant extract.

Key enterprises: Juntai Technology, Vontex Technology, Yiou New Materials, and Rongjing Bamboo Industry.

Development priorities: Special cellulose, hemicellulose, high-end regenerated cellulose, lignin, high-purity deproteinized latex, bio-based formaldehyde-free adhesives, animal and plant extract and refining products, bamboo-based composite materials, high-end bamboo products, and other high value-added products.
