In 2024, there were 40 industrial enterprises above the designated size in the new energy and equipment industrial chain, with an output value of RMB4.28 billion, a year-on-year increase of 22.7%. Huaihua boasts the most diverse and richest clean energy resources in Hunan Province. In terms of resource reserves, the city stands at the forefront of Hunan Province for its wind energy and PV resources. Specifically, the theoretical reserves of wind energy resources are 39.20 million kilowatts, 10.50 million kilowatts of which are exploitable according to the preliminary resource survey; the theoretical reserves of PV resources are 150 million kilowatts. In terms of the incorporation of wind power and PV into planning, 55 centralized wind power projects and seven centralized PV projects are included in the first batch of development projects under the 14th Five-Year Plan of Hunan Province, with a total installed capacity of 3,877,400 kilowatts and 560,000 kilowatts, respectively. In terms of development and application, as at the end of 2024, the installed capacity of wind power was 1,092,000 kilowatts; the installed capacity of distributed PV was 428,900 kilowatts; energy storage facilities with a capacity of 217,500 kilowatts were developed; and about 500 public charging stations, over 3,000 public charging piles, and more than 8,000 AC charging piles for residential use were built.
