Huaihua boasts rich eco-cultural tourism resources, a long history of culture, unique natural landscape, profound ethnic customs and red culture. Perfectly combining antique, green and red travel tours, the city is hailed by experts as “one of the regions with the most abundant high-quality tourism resources in China”. The Huaihua Municipal Party Committee and the People’s Government of Huaihua City take eco-cultural tourism as a characteristic pillar industry. The authorities formulated and issued the Opinions on Accelerating the Promotion of the High-quality Development of Eco-cultural Tourism in Huaihua and the other three policies, vigorously implemented the ten actions on boosting the high-quality development of eco-cultural tourism, facilitated the development of “The Yuanjiang River of Hundreds of Miles and the Huaihua Gallery”, the golden corridor of eco-cultural tourism, and developed five high-quality tour routes including the Xuefeng Gallery, Picturesque Yuanjiang River, Ancient City & Trade Route, Dong and Miao Styles, and Red Memory. They strive to build Huaihua into a nationally renowned eco-cultural tourist destination and the “southwest gateway of Hunan” in tourism.
