The total import and export volume reached RMB6.08 billion, a year-on-year increase of 119%.

Oct. 22 (Hunan Daily) (Omnimedia reporter: Zhao Zhigao; correspondents: Zhang Zhuo, Kang Tang) Today, the reporters learn from Huaihua Customs that Huaihua’s total import and export volume reached RMB6.08 billion in the first three quarters of 2023, a year-on-year increase of 119%, with the growth rate ranking first in Hunan Province.

Huaihua is the only node city in Hunan Province in the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, and the construction of the Huaihua International Land Port is in full swing. The city, while working to expand its logistics channels, is continuously enhancing its goods collection capability and deepening the reform of customs clearance. The ASEAN freight assembly center led by Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi has already taken shape.

Huaihua Customs has made solid efforts to launch various initiatives for enterprises, such as door-to-door policy introduction by the customs director and zero-problem initiative. With a focus on the building of a new modern industrial system in Huaihua, preferential policies and measures have been continuously released. The number of enterprises engaging in foreign trade in Huaihua has risen from 120 in 2022 to 166 in the first three quarters of 2023.

Huaihua has devoted great energy to platform development. It only spent three months completing the construction of the customs railway supervisory operation site, thus facilitating the routine operation of the China-Laos, China-Vietnam and sea-rail intermodal trains in Hunan. From January to September, Huaihua International Land Port launched 315 train services, a year-on-year increase of 192.3%. Specifically, 36 trips were made on the China-Laos Railway, up 56.5% year-on-year, exceeding the total trips made in 2022.

The “port connect” customs clearance mode created by Huaihua Customs, which consists of “inland ports, sea-rail intermodal trains and barge feeder service” shortens the length of cargo transportation by nearly 30% and facilitates the export of Hunan tea, bags and other featured products, according to Lei Mingxiong, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Huaihua International Land Port Development Co., Ltd.

Huaihua has strengthened its linkage with industrial chains in key regions. In the first three quarters of 2023, the city’s imports and exports with ASEAN countries registered RMB1.81 billion, up 170.8%. Specifically, its imports and exports with Laos stood at RMB140 million, an increase of more than 20 times; the city saw satisfactory results in the export of vegetables, tea and bags, with the export volume increasing by 105.7 times, 13.6 times and 1.137 times, respectively; and the import volume of tapioca and unprocessed plastics grew by 677.4% and 111%, respectively.
