Jingzhou chestnuts are highly nutritious, containing more vitamin C than tomatoes. Minerals in chestnuts include potassium, zinc, iron, and others. Although their mineral content is not as high as in hazelnuts, it still surpasses that of apples by a significant margin, especially with potassium content being three times higher than that of apples.
Chestnut kernels are rich in nutrients, comprising 60–71% starch, 7–23% sugars, 5.7–10.75% protein, and 2.0–7.4% fat, as well as various vitamins and minerals.
