The Teng Daiyuan Memorial Hall is located in the county seat, 40-minute drive from Huaihua City and 10-minute drive from the Mayang West Railway Station. Completed on November 2, 1986, the memorial hall is a two-story modern palace-style antique building and covers an area of 6.13 mu (about 4,087 square meters), with a main building area of 1,688 square meters. It comprises a total of 14 exhibition halls, with an exhibition area of 420 square meters. The exhibition halls are equipped with advanced lighting, sound, and projection systems that create a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for exhibitors and visitors. In the prologue room, there stands a fiberglass statue of Teng Daiyuan. The exhibition room displays more than 400 items, including pictures, photos, letters, manuscripts, documents, and cultural relics, which help visitors appreciate various periods of his life and his outstanding historical contributions during the periods of the new democratic revolution and socialist construction. Hu Yaobang, the then general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, wrote the inscription of the memorial hall.
In November 2004 and November 2018, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Teng Daiyuan’s birth and the 30th anniversary of the county’s founding, the memorial hall underwent a comprehensive renovation. With a refreshed appearance, it is listed as a provincial patriotic education base and national 3A tourist attraction (rated in 2006).
