On July 16th, 2023, the Mayang Cloud Jungle Research Base project was officially launched. At the launch ceremony, Tang Zhixiang, Deputy Director of the Provincial Customs Commission, attended and announced the opening of the park. Both Yu Jianyong, Deputy Mayor of Huaihua City, and Jiang Tao, Secretary of the County Party Committee, delivered a speech.

The Mayang Cloud Jungle Research Base is a key industry project at the municipal level in Huaihua City in 2023, and is one of the important projects in the “Forty Billion” industry and “Culture, Tourism, and Health” sector of Mayang. The first phase of the project has an investment of 18 million yuan, with a planned area of 1,000 acres and a building area of 3,400 square meters. It receives over 500 students and teachers on a daily basis. The second phase of the construction plan has an investment of 30 million yuan and a building area of 6,600 square meters, creating five major themes: folk experience, agricultural culture, handcrafting, labor education, and out-door training. It is a comprehensive tourism and leisure resort that integrates cultural experience, rural tourism, leisure and entertainment, and Jungle health.

Jiang Tao, County Party Secretary, extended an invitation to tourists from all over the country, saying, “Long lived Mayang deserves a visit. Stepping into Mayang, one can fully enjoy the blessings of mountains and rivers for nourishing the eyes, refreshing lungs, nurturing body and soul. We sincerely invite friends to visit Mayang regularly, enjoy the beautiful scenery, taste wine and delicacies, and allow the body and soul to take a “deep breath”.

At the ceremony, eight plaque awarding ceremonies were also held, including the “Huaihua City Primary and Secondary School Research and Education Practice Base,” “Mayang Miao Autonomous County Grassroots Trade Union Construction Activity Base,” and “Xiaoxiang Vocational College Internship Base,” marking that the base will closely connect with relevant units and the market, and create a nationally renowned and first-class research and education, red culture demonstration site in Hunan. The person in charge of the scenic area operation team introduced that they will actively cultivate new rural experience formats such as “rural+tourism”, “rural+research”, “rural+leisure”, and “rural+health” based on the cloud based jungle research and learning base project, and strive to build a new pattern for the development of the cultural and tourism industry in Mayang, comprehensively supporting the development of rural revitalization in Mayang.

On that day, the Yunduan Jungle Research Base in Nanmuqiao Village, Tanjiazhai Town, Mayang was bustling with activity. The theme of this garden opening ceremony is “Entering the Land of Longevity, Sharing a Better Life”. The people in the venue are entertained with delicacies and fun, which is really attracting. Arriving at the Firefly Camping Base, overlooking from the top of mountain, one can see picking gardens of grapes and blueberries. At the swimming pool, children are experiencing a cool summer and enjoying themselves. In the camp tent, tourists are experiencing relaxation and joy in the nature. There are integrated air conditioners, independent toilets, chicken rolls tables and camping chairs and equipment such as canopy, tables and chairs, cooking utensils, tableware, etc. In the Ladder Book Bar, many tourists are reading while enjoying cold drinks. The Ladder Book Bar was the first rural library in Mayang.

Mayang has a pleasant ecological environment, with a long cultural history, convenient and smooth transportation, and abundant tourism resources. It is renowned as the “Land of Longevity in the World ”, the “Capital of China’s Bing Tang Sweet Orange”, the “Top 100 Counties for Health Preservation in China”, the “Most Beautiful Health Preservation Habitat in China”, the “Natural Selenium Rich Land in China”, and the “Hometown of Chinese Folk Culture and Art”. In recent years, based on the advantages of ecological longevity and resource endowment, Mayang has vigorously implemented the “one county, three regions” strategy, promoted the development of the “three waters and five colors” characteristic advantageous industries, and promoted the deep integration of cultural, agriculture, and longevity tourism. In 2022, the county received 1.528 million tourists, with a total tourism revenue of 1.354 billion yuan.
