Jingzhou, known as Chengzhou in ancient times, has been an important hub for business, trade and culture at the junction of Hunan and Guizhou provinces and  Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region since ancient times, forming the saying of “ A Meeting Place for People from Different Directions”. Feishan scenic spot, 1 km away from the west of Jingzhou County, is a famous religious mountain, a tourist resort and a military fortress. It is said that Emperor Shenlong and Fuxi set up the eight diagrams (Bagua in Chinese Pinyin) platform here, observing the astronomical changes, tasting herbs and deducting the eight diagrams. There are about 40 relics or ruins since Tang dynasty. Respected as Feishan God, Yang Zaisi, the leader of ethnic minorities in southwest China during the five dynasties, established a feudal territorial system with Feishan as the center, maintaining the unity of China and promoting national integration, because of which he is still worshipped in the temples by believers in Hunan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Hubei, Chongqing, Sichuan and Yunnan. For thousands of years, there have been many worshipers in Fangguang Temple, Baiyun Cave and Feishan Temple. The Feishan Temple, a national 4A-level scenic area as well as a scenic spot in Hunan Province, draws ten thousand or so worshipers for Feishan on June 18 of the lunar calendar. In recent years, according to the 5A-level scenic spot planning, Feishan has been developed into a Chinese cultural resort named Fule with Feishan as the center. Featured by cultures of Miao and Dong people, the resort is home to ecological sightseeing, cultural experience, mountainous sports and leisure vacation.
