The construction of the Wuxi Cultural Square kicked off in July 2003 and was completed in April 2004. The square covers an area of about 21 hectares, with a total investment of 49 million yuan, and features the history of the Wuxi area and local ethnic cultures. Wuxi Pillar, Qianhe Lake, the music fountain, and the wall of Wuxi historic figures are the main scenic spots. Focused on a central pond with pavilions, terraces and rockeries, the square is divided into seven parts: the central square, three separated areas for the elderly, children and young people, the water playground, the ethnic culture park and the garden featuring southern sceneries, providing integrated attraction for sight-seeing, entertainment, catering and technology demonstration. The square is also known for its barrier-free facilities, including tactile paving, slope passages and rebuilt toilets, for visitors with disabilities to ensure that they can enjoy a barrier-free tour.
