Hunan's agricultural exports reached 17.385 billion CNY in 2025, ranking first in the central region of China. Pork exports ranked first nationwide, while vegetable and edible mushroom exports ranked second.
Hunan's five largest trading partner in agricultural products were Hong Kong SAR, the United States, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Vietnam.
The nationally leading industrial scale of agriculture and high quality of agricultural products have laid a solid foundation for Hunan's agricultural export.
Hunan ranks first nationwide in grain output, while its annual hog and vegetable output among the highest. Its livestock and poultry, fruits, oil crops, tea, aquatic products, traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, bamboos and timber, and seed industries, each with the output value exceeding 100 billion CNY, lead the country. Seven 100-billion-CNY-output industries and 11 national-level industrial clusters are rising with strong momentum. Hunan has established seven provincial-level regional public brands, including Xiangjiangyuan Vegetables and Hunan Camellia Oil, while cultivating a number of featured brands, such as Ningxiang black-and-white pig and Xiangtan lotus seeds.
In recent years, Hunan has been leveraging its advantages as the place of origin and enhancing policy guidance, to continuously cultivate competitive entities in high-quality development of international trade in agriculture, and give full play to the strengths of various platforms to expand the overseas markets. For example, Yongzhou City set up a "Yong He Zhen"unified export window; Xintian County has designated the export-oriented vegetable industry as a county-level specialty; and, Shaoyang City has facilitated fast customs clearance of geographical indication products, such as Xuefeng tangerines and Langshan navel oranges, under the Single E-lock Scheme (SELS) mechanism.
