According to the Changsha Customs Authority, in the first quarter of this year, Hunan's exports of rail transit equipment reached 340 million CNY, marking a year−on−year increase of 45.3 percent. Zhuzhou was a pillar in such sector with 310 million CNY of exports, accounting for over 90 percent of the provincial total.

Kazakhstan, Germany, and Hong Kong SAR were the top three export markets, accounting for 15.7 percent, 14 percent, and 11.6 percent of the provincial total export value respectively. Exports to Kazakhstan soared 504 times to 52.83 million CNY, embodying the significant progress in regional cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. Exports to Germany rose 67.6 percent to 47.032 million CNY, while those to Hong Kong jumped to 39.165 million yuan with a nearly 58-fold growth.

Railway or tramway locomotive parts were the primary exported products, with a total export value hitting 95.984 million CNY and constituting 28.5 percent of total. Exports of rail track fastening devices, mechanical equipment for traffic management, and related accessories and parts reached 60.573 million CNY, reflecting a robust growth of 154.2 percent year on year.
