The China-Africa Investment and Economic Cooperation Exchange Meeting on Building a Sustainable Future Together was held in Changsha on February 11. The event brought together representatives from more than 20 domestic and international business associations and over 400 representatives from Chinese and African enterprises. The goal was to unite the efforts of governments, business associations, and enterprises to deepen cooperation between China and African countries in the fields of investment, economy and trade. Attendees included Xiao Bailing, vice chairwoman of the CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee, and Khamis Mussa Omar, ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to China.
Mr. Khamis Mussa Omar expressed the hope that China will increase its investment in Africa, especially in promoting the industrialization process and agricultural modernization. He added that Tanzania and the entire African continent are rich in natural resources and he hoped that China will eliminate more tariff barriers for Africa in the future.
At the meeting, projects such as the Sikasso Special Economic Zone construction project in the Republic of Mali and the China-Africa Large Language Model project were presented. Three additional projects—a project to upgrade Guinea's national power grid; a project to expand medical device enterprises in West Africa; and a project on energy cooperation with Africa—were signed on site, with a total contract value of 27 million USD.
The "China-Africa Economy and Trade Cultural Large Model Laboratory" and the "Tanzania Investment Center China (Hunan) Investment and Cooperation Platform Pilot Zone Liaison Office" were inaugurated at the meeting and officially established in the China-Africa Economy and Trade Cooperation Innovation Demonstration Park.
The laboratory will leverage artificial intelligence to enable comprehensive mutual understandings of cultural traditions and economic opportunities between China and Africa, realizing the vision of "viewing Africa from Hunan" and "viewing China from Africa."
This event was jointly hosted by the Hunan Business Service Center and the China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council.
