A media briefing for the 2023 Hunan-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Investment and Trade Conference Week was held on May 31. It was learned that since February of this year, various teams from provincial, municipal, and county-level authorities, as well as industrial parks, have conducted targeted negotiations and connections in the Hunan-GBA Conference, with remarkable results. A total of 117 provincial-level projects were signed this year, with a total investment of 90.23 billion yuan.
There were 35 large-scale projects, each with an investment of over 1 billion yuan (including 3 with over 5 billion yuan each), accounting for nearly 30% of the total number of projects. For example, Vital Materials Limited has invested 7 billion yuan in constructing a new materials industrial base project in Hengyang. There were 74 industrial manufacturing projects, making up 60% of the total. With investments totaling 46.16 billion yuan, the projects mainly focus on such areas as new materials, energy storage equipment, electronic information, and precision machinery production.
The number of projects invested in by Fortune Global 500 enterprises, top 500 Chinese enterprises, and top 500 Chinese private enterprises is rising, with 14 project investments by companies such as China Resources Group, China National Building Material Group, and China General Nuclear Power Group, accounting for 11.9% of the total number of projects. Fifty-eight project investments by enterprises from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao account for nearly half of the total number of projects. Companies involved in the Hunan-Guangdong-Africa sea-rail intermodal transport services have reached a series of cooperation agreements with the Ports of Guangzhou and Yantian, further improving customs clearance efficiency and reducing logistics costs for enterprises.
Hunan Province released investment information on nine featured competitive industrial chains, including construction machinery, rail transit equipment, small and medium-sized aircraft engines, and aerospace equipment. Additionally, 100 industrial investment projects were also announced. These efforts aim to guide local authorities in strengthening industrial planning and promoting the formation of symbiotic and complementary industrial ecosystems.
More than 20 events were held during the Hunan-GBA Conference, focusing on key areas such as competitive industrial chains, the return of local entrepreneurs to Hunan, scientific and technological innovation, trade channels, financial services, and cultural tourism. These events fostered in-depth exchanges, connections, and promotional activities, with over 800 distinguished guests in attendance. In this year’s Hunan-GBA Conference, Hunan Province emphasized cooperation in trade, finance, and cultural tourism, to promote the return of Hunan entrepreneurs.
