On the evening of August 7, river‑side lights sparkled around the Quzi Pavilion in Hongjiang District. Synchronized to melodies, the floating musical fountain gracefully sprang to life, marking the opening of a themed performance. The spectacular show combined waterside lighting, folk arts, aquatic stunts and high-end fire performance, delivering a dazzling summer night carnival for visitors.

The venue brimmed with fervent vibes, and every seat on the viewing platform of Quzi Pavilion was occupied. The musical fountain show first lit up the night, before firework show took the stage one after another. Shifting flames instantly built up an immersive atmosphere. Sichuan Opera face‑changing artists flicked their sleeves and switched masks in the blink of an eye, drawing thunderous cheers from spectators. A fire‑breathing artisan exhaled a billowing jet of flame, sending the whole audience into raptures.

An iron flower forging display, which was the grand finale, brought the event to its climax, scattering iron flowers into the night sky like twinkling stars. Zhang Zhiqiang, a tourist from downtown Huaihua who had made the trip with his child, remarked, “The blooming iron sparks paired with the ancient town’s nightscape are absolutely breathtaking.”

On the same day, the town kicked off a water-splashing carnival. Laughter echoed amid flying water droplets as guests reveled in the refreshing aquatic pastime.

In recent years, Hongjiang Ancient Commercial Town has made sustained efforts to develop its nighttime tourism economy. Leveraging events such as August Festivities, it has diversified its cultural and tourism offerings and pioneered novel consumption scenarios.
