On the afternoon of April 3, Wei Zhaohui, deputy secretary of the CPC Huaihua Municipal Committee and mayor of Huaihua Municipal People’s Government, conducted research at Huaihua University. She stressed that it is of necessity to thoroughly study and implement the important expositions by General Secretary Xi Jinping on education, deeply integrate into the “four initiatives” of port, industry, city and tourism , and provide talent and intellectual support for promoting high-quality development of Huaihua City. Wang Gang, secretary of the Party Committee of Huaihua University, Dong Zhengyu, President of the University, Xiang Rulian, a Huaihua municipal leader, and Lin Hua, secretary-general of the Huaihua Municipal Government , attended the research.

Wei Zhaohui and her delegation visited the Yuan River Basin Ethnic Culture Museum, as well as the Robotics Innovation and Motion Control Laboratory and the Robot Disassembly and Debugging Laboratory of the School of Physics, Electronics and Intelligent Manufacturing. She pointed out that the university should fully leverage its historical and educational strengths, and continuously enhance its capacity and level of service to local economic and social development.

At the symposium, Wei Zhaohui stated that Huaihua University, as a cradle of talent and a hub of intellectual support for Huaihua City, has long made positive contributions to the development of the City. It is hoped that the school will optimize the setting of disciplines and majors, closely align itself with the “5+10” modern industrial system of the City, and increase its synergy with local development. By focusing on the “four key areas” of port, industry, city, and tourism, the university should make targeted efforts to cultivate application-oriented talents for land port construction, promote deep integration of industry and education, and fully integrate into the development of the City, so as to support the building of a regional central city at the junction of five provinces.

Focusing on the “two kinds of integration” — integrating culture with tourism and culture with technology — the university should continue to deepen its cultural leadership, promote the application and research of AI technology, and facilitate the deep integration of culture with tourism and culture with technology. Graduates are supposed to be actively guided to stay in Huaihua and make contributions, platforms are to be built for interaction and collaboration between students and enterprises, and early linking of talent cultivation with employment should be achieved, so that more outstanding students choose to stay and build Huaihua. Furthermore, the university must implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and strive to nurture a new generation of capable young people with the moral grounding, intellectual ability, physical vigor, aesthetic sensibility, and work skills needed to join and carry on the socialist cause.

Wei Zhaohui stated that the CPC Huaihua Municipal Committee and the Huaihua Municipal Government will, as always, support the development of Huaihua University, promote deep synergy between the university and the local government, and jointly build Huaihua into a regional education highland.
