In front of Xixiang Xincheng Plaza in Bao’an District, Shenzhen, a lively market-style event showcasing the unique charm of western Hunan was in full swing on November 27. The event was a centerpiece of the first anniversary celebration of the Shenzhen Mayang Chamber of Commerce and a vivid example of deeper cross‑regional cooperation between Mayang County of Huaihua City and the Bao’an District of Shenzhen City.

At the venue, the Mayang selenium‑rich specialty products area drew bustling crowds. More than 40 leading Mayang companies presented over 100 ecological specialty items including candied oranges, selenium‑rich rice, high‑mountain tea, eco‑cured bacon, handcrafted brown sugar, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Farmers and merchants on site used displays, free tastings and interactive experiences to let consumers sample the distinctive flavors of western Hunan. The atmosphere for negotiating orders was energetic, injecting strong momentum into efforts to broaden sales channels for Mayang’s specialty industries across the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macau Greater Bay Area and to raise brand influence. The event also featured a dedicated ethnic‑unity exhibition area that, through panels, images and hands‑on activities, vividly presented Mayang’s achievements in ethnic unity and progress as well as its distinctive ethnic cultures, further enhancing Shenzhen residents’ understanding of and identification with Mayang’s cultural heritage.
Organized jointly by the People’s Government of Mayang Miao Autonomous County, the United Front Work Department of the Bao’an District Committee, the Bao’an District Association for Ethnic Unity and Progress, the Shenzhen Hunan Mayang Chamber of Commerce and other partners, the activity relied on a coordinated linkage mechanism built by the two regions’ united front departments. Adopting an innovative “culture + industry” promotion model, the initiative deeply integrated efforts to promote ethnic unity and progress with cross‑regional industrial cooperation. This approach not only showcased Mayang’s multiethnic cultural characteristics but also effectively reduced the cost of enterprise inspections and matchmaking, delivering both business opportunities and cultural outreach.
