On October 18, Wei Zhaohui, deputy secretary of the CPC huaihua Municipal Committee and secretary of the Party leadership Group of the Municipal Government conducted an inspection tour in Tongdao County. She emphasized it is of necessity to thoroughly study and put into practice the keynote speeches and instructions by General Secretary Xi Jinping on the work related to Hunan, and carefully carry out the plans and requirements by the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government as well as the requirements for work by the CPC huaihua Municipal Committee and the Huaihua Municipal People’s Government. While working to complete all the tasks laid down in the 14th Five-Year Plan, it is also of necessity to scientifically plan the economic and social development during the “15th Five-Year Plan” period and strive to cultivate new economic growth drivers.
At the Memorial Square for Tongdao Conference, Wei Zhaohui paid tribute to the revolutionary predecessors by presenting a floral basket before the statues, and then visited the site of the Tongdao Conference and the Memorial Hall for the Conference, where he reviewed the history and significance of the Red Army’s Long March passing through Tongdao County by looking at precious cultural relics and historical materials. In Huangdu Dong Cultural Village, Wei Zhaohui gained a detailed understanding of the in-depth integration of Dong ethnic culture and tourism, and supervised the implementation of safety measures against fire in the village. At the Uncaria plantation base in Xiaxiang Village of Wanfoshan Town, she learned about the processing of traditional Chinese herbal materials and the development of the industry. In the Tongdao Industrial Development Zone, Wei Zhaohui inspected the new energy industry projects within the county, and visited Jingsheng Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., where he gained a detailed look at the production of the company.
At the symposium, Wei Zhaohui pointed out that the cadres and citizens in Tongdao County have achieved great successes through unity, by great efforts, and after hard ships. At this critical juncture of concluding the 14th Five-Year Plan and formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan, it is essential to focus on the annual targets and tasks, strengthen the monitoring and coordination of economic performance, further revitalize existing resources, and explore new growth drivers to ensure the smooth achievement of the set goals. Meanwhile, it is important to scientifically formulate the 15th Five-Year Plan, make more efforts to bolster people’s livelihoods, and ensure safety in all endeavors.
Wei Zhaohui required that efforts should be made to leverage comparative advantages, highlight distinctive features, and plan for new industries and business forms with the vision and resolve of “not seeking immediate credit for success, but being committed to contributing to it”, so as to accelerate the cultivation of new growth drivers. It is of necessity to make good use of the “red revolutionary card”, further enhance the reputation of the “Tongdao Conference” as a well-known attraction, strengthen the protection and utilization of red resources, and build a red research and study base into a well-known one in China. It is of necessity to leverage the “blue industry(or ocean industry)” by actively fostering new energy industries such as wind power, effectively improving the benefits of projects already put into operation, and raising the return on investment. It is necessary to bring into play the “green ecology” by relying on the advantages of ecological resources, developing eco-tourism and health care industries, and striving to transform resource advantages into development strengths. It is also necessity to play the role of “golden health card(or herbal resources)” by leveraging the endowment of traditional Chinese herbal materials resources and the foundation of development, and enhancing the herbal industry in terms of extension, supplementation and strengthening, increasing industrial value added. It is necessary to play the part of “ancient ethnic culture resources” by further innovating the exhibition methods of the living culture of the Dong nationality, aiming to promote the quality improvement and upgrading of ethnic characteristic tourism.
