On the afternoon of August 16, Xu Zhongjian, secretary of the CPC Huaihua Municipal Committee, made a special inspection tour of the construction of the urban quality upgrading and key cultural tourism projects. He emphasized that it is of necessity to thoroughly study and put into practice the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the Central Urban Work Conference, carefully carry out the plans and requirements by the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan Province, fully apply the people-oriented concept to the construction of a city, and seize the possibility brought from the 5th Hunan Tourism Development Conference to continue to bolster the urban quality and living environment, letting the public share the achievements stemming from urban development.

At the public toilet in Fuqian Road Square, Xu Zhongjian gained a detailed understanding of the progress of the upgrading of the public toilet, and coordinated to solve relevant specific issues on the site. He pointed out that the upgrading of the public toilets in the downtown is a vital project for people’s well-being, which requires human-centered care, scientific planning, and fine management with measures including installing rest benches and barrier-free facilities to comprehensively enhance service quality.

Upon arriving at Kaitong Lingyu Community on Hutian Avenue, Xu Zhongjian carefully looked over the progress of pipeline network construction around the community. He underscored that underground pipeline networks, the infrastructure and lifeline ensuring the normal operation of the city, have an impact upon people’s health and well-being. It is of necessity to seize policy opportunities and take advancing urban renewal as an important starting point to accelerate the upgrading of underground pipeline networks, with special attention to overcoming the shortcomings in sewage collection facilities. Efforts should be made to coordinate road greening, maintenance of public facilities, environmental sanitation and cleaning, so as to continuously improve the living environment of the community.

On Dongmeng(literally, ASEAN) Avenue and North Binjiang Road of the Wujiang Leisure Corridor, Xu Zhongjian inspected the upgrading of the road. He emphasized that all relevant departments should strengthen coordination and joint action, take the initiative to act proactively, and actively coordinate to solve the difficulties or problems encountered in the progress of the project. It is of necessity to seize the golden period for construction, and, on the basis of ensuring quality and safety, make every effort to speed up the progress to see to it that the project is completed as scheduled, aiming to provide a more convenient, smooth and safe traffic environment for the people’s travel.

Visiting Tianwen Island, Jingping Ancient Village, and Dongmeng (literally, ASEAN) Complex, Xu Zhongjian gained a detailed understanding of the construction progress of the project and coordinated to address relevant issues on site. He emphasized that a close eye must be kept on the deadline for the project, make every effort to complete the finishing work of the project, and promptly improve infrastructure and related supporting services. It is crucial to focus on optimizing the business layout, combining well-known brands with local characteristics, and synergistically integrating diverse resources such as homestays and resorts, catering and cuisine, cultural experiences, and leisure entertainment, which will meet tourist demands and stimulate consumer activity.

Municipal leaders Li Weilin, Hu Chen and Hu Heping participated in the inspection.
