On December 3, thousands of acres of metasequoia trees on the Paiya Mountain quietly donned their “new attire”, with crimson tips decorating the entire mountain. Adorned in red, the scene is as beautiful as a painting, attracting numerous tourists to photograph and embrace the leisurely moments that winter offers.

The metasequoia trees on the Paiya Mountain were planted in the 1970s, covering an area of over 1,000 mu (over 67 hectares). In early winter the forest transforms from emerald green to golden, then to orange-red, like a color palette scattered on earth, becoming a stunning winter landscape.

Water pines, known as "living fossil plants," begin their transformation every November, shifting from green to brown-yellow and then deep red. Standing tall and arranged in rows, they create a spectacular autumn-winter scenery. Currently, water pines in Huaihua are gradually changing color, approaching their optimal viewing period.

At present, the thousand acres of water pines at Paiya Mountain have reached their aesthetic peak, quietly awaiting visitors from all directions. Beyond photography, you can enjoy a winter sunny bicycle ride, immersing yourself in nature, or camp amid the trees, exploring the mountain wilderness.
