On June 10, a topping-out ceremony was held at the Anjiang Hybrid Rice Museum project construction site in Hongjiang City. The project covers an area of 86.4 mu (5.76 ha.) and a floor area of 15,041 square meters, with a total investment of 245 million yuan. The main building of the project is inspired by the concept of "being delighted to see wave on wave of corn and rice, which now provide cool shade". Its roof is designed with a natural curve resembling a rice spike, symbolically connecting the vision of the late scientist Yuan Longping, the Father of Hybrid Rice, who dreamed of resting under the panicles, with the architectural space. The project is expected to be completed by the end of August. (Photo/Yang Xijian and Xiang Hua)
