On August 13, Wei Zhaohui, secretary of the CPC Huaihua Municipal Committee, conducted research and inspected the Yuanshui River in Chenxi County. She stressed the need to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on fostering and practicing a correct view of political performance, as well as his important speeches and instructions concerning Hunan’s work. Efforts should be accelerated to advance key cultural‑tourism projects. The 5th Municipal Tourism Development Conference shall be held in an innovative, pragmatic and frugal manner to deliver remarkable outcomes of boosting urban development, fostering industries and benefiting local residents through the event.

At the construction sites of the Visitor Centre for the 1938 Xiaoping Military Camp Site and the Rice Field Fish Park, Wei Zhaohui was briefed on project progress. She pointed out that construction should be expedited, supporting facilities improved and overall service capacity steadily enhanced. Well‑planned mass cultural events such as village song festivals shall be organized to enrich villagers’ cultural life and advance integrated development of agriculture, culture and tourism. While strictly observing safety and quality standards, all parties should race against time to ensure timely completion.

At the Military Industry Museum and the construction site of the project honoring the victory of the Xiangxi Bandit Suppression, Wei reviewed project planning, design and implementation progress. She noted that deep integration between culture and technology should be pursued. Audio‑visual and lighting technologies should be deployed to recreate historical scenarios in a panoramic way, and immersive, interactive tourism products should be meticulously developed to substantially improve visitor experience. Safety management at karst cave scenic spots needs to be strengthened with intensified routine inspection and supervision to ensure the safety of visitors.

At the construction sites of homestays in Zhongxin Village and Aiguo Village, Wei learned about homestay development. She underscored that development should be visitor‑oriented. Meticulous work should be done on interior decoration and scene building to upgrade service quality and satisfy tourists’ diversified and personalized demands.

At Longfeng Square on the north bank of the Yuanshui River, the Zhongnanmen Commercial Complex and Jinyan Pagoda Park, Wei obtained updates on the north‑bank riverside scenic belt, upgrading and investment promotion for old town markets, and cultural and tourism industrial development. She emphasized that the Municipal Tourism Development Conference should serve as an opportunity to accelerate urban renewal, step up investment promotion, raise overall urban quality and refined governance, and greet visitors from home and abroad with a brand‑new look. Efforts should be made to enrich business formats, optimize tourist experience and unlock new momentum for cultural and tourism consumption.

At Qianfu Ecological Agriculture Cooperative in Jinyan Village, Chenyang Town, Wei looked into agricultural industrial development. She stated that regular support work must be solidly carried out. Local industries that drive rural prosperity should be developed in light of local conditions. Interest‑linkage mechanisms that benefit farmers should be improved to raise industrial efficiency and increase rural incomes, so that farmers can share more dividends generated by industrial growth.

During her field visit, Wei Zhaohui also toured the Yuanshui River by boat to examine river‑course management and anti‑drowning facilities. She stressed full implementation of the river chief system. Innovative AI‑powered UAV river patrols should be rolled out. Co‑ordinated progress should be achieved in water resource utilization, aquatic‑ecosystem conservation and water‑environment governance to build an eco‑environment featuring unobstructed watercourses, clean water, green riverbanks and picturesque landscapes. Remedial rectification should be advanced promptly to address issues identified in thematic education, including seasonal water shortages in remote mountainous areas and sub‑standard drinking water quality in rural regions, so as to better meet residents’ production and domestic water needs.

Municipal leaders Li Weilin and Hu Chen attended the inspection tour.
