On the morning of June 5, 2026, Wei Zhaohui, Secretary of the Huaihua Municipal Party Committee, convened the Symposium on the Development of Huaihua City's Machinery and Equipment Industrial Chain. She emphasized the importance of thoroughly studying and implementing the important speeches, instructions and directives of General Secretary Xi Jinping concerning Hunan’s work. Efforts should be made to elevate the industry to higher levels of intelligence, innovation, clustering, green development and market-oriented operation, so as to jointly strengthen the machinery and equipment industrial chain. Li Wanqian, Director of the Standing Committee of the Huaihua Municipal People’s Congress, was present at the meeting. Municipal leaders Li Weilin and Yin Peiguo were also in attendance.

At the symposium, participants were briefed on the progress made in building the machinery and equipment industrial chain. Representatives from ten enterprises delivered speeches, including Sany Environmental Industry, Hunan Wuxin Intelligent Technology, Hunan Zhongnan Bridge Equipment Manufacturing, Hunan Hengyu Auto Parts, Huaihua Zhongjian Mechanical Steel Formwork Manufacturing, Hunan Chenglu Pipe Industry Technology, Huaihua Baohui End-of-life Vehicle Recycling and Dismantling, Hunan Xinliwei Technology, Huaihua Leicheng Machinery Manufacturing and Huaihua Xusheng Clock Manufacturing. They shared updates on business operations, voiced their thoughts and exchanged views on future development in a pragmatic, candid and efficient atmosphere. After listening carefully to the remarks, Wei required the industrial chain office and relevant municipal government departments to sort out all opinions, suggestions, difficulties and practical problems raised by the enterprises, respond to them one by one and address issues in a timely manner.

Huaihua’s machinery and equipment industrial chain has maintained steady growth and boasts distinctive and notable strengths, said Wei. Nevertheless, it is faced with four prominent imbalances: a surplus of spare parts manufacturers but a shortage of complete machine and end-product producers; a large number of traditional products but insufficient innovative products; scattered enterprise layouts with inadequate industrial clustering; and a heavy reliance on the domestic market while international market expansion remains limited. The development of the machinery and equipment industrial chain should be taken as a key initiative to shore up weaknesses in the manufacturing sector.

Wei put forward five key requirements for future work. First, deepen intelligent transformation: leverage artificial intelligence to accelerate smart manufacturing, seize opportunities brought by the large-scale equipment renewal policy, and advance equipment upgrading, production line renovation and robot replacement to raise the overall level of intelligent production. Second, foster innovation vitality: boost internal driving forces through technological innovation, encourage enterprises to increase investment in research and development, further integrate production, education, research and application, promote in-depth cooperation between local universities and industrial sectors, and jointly carry out technological research. Third, expand industrial clustering: amplify scale advantages via industrial agglomeration; focus on investment promotion covering the whole industrial chain to fill gaps in key links and build a sound industrial ecosystem. Fourth, uphold green development: take green development and safety as the bottom line; promote the use of eco-friendly materials and technologies, and build green products, factories and supply chains. Meanwhile, enterprises must fully assume the primary responsibility for work safety to improve intrinsic safety. Relevant government departments should also optimize regulation approaches to jointly safeguard sound and safe development. Fifth, expand market reach: tap into both domestic and international markets through two-way opening-up. The city will consolidate the local market, strengthen cooperation with neighboring regions and help enterprises explore overseas markets, pooling efforts to secure more orders and expand business territories.
