Uphold realism and law compliance to resolve backlogged petition cases efficiently

On the morning of June 3, Wei Zhaohui, secretary of the Huaihua Municipal Party Committee, presided over a special coordination meeting on key letters and visits cases. She stressed the need to thoroughly study and apply General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thinking on strengthening and improving people’s letters and visits work, firmly establish and put into practice a correct view on performance appraisal, resolve backlogged letters and visits cases in a realistic, law-based and compliant manner, properly address people’s reasonable demands and effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the masses.
He Zunqing, deputy secretary of the Huaihua Municipal Party Committee and secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Huaihua Municipal Party Committee, and municipal leading cadre Li Weilin attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Wei received briefings on key petition-related matters. Together with persons-in-charge of relevant responsible departments, she sorted out bottlenecks and obstacles and deliberated on solutions.
Wei emphasized that work must be grounded in facts and reality, with due respect to history and objective facts. A comprehensive review shall be conducted to conduct an in-depth root-cause analysis of underlying conflicts, featuring candid communication, prompt rectification and zero buck-passing of responsibilities.All case resolutions shall align with laws and regulations. Joint research and assessment shall be strengthened to ensure conflict resolution adhere to the right orientation and standardized procedures. Meanwhile, the order for petition work shall be regulated to guide members of the public so as to submit their demands in a lawful, rational and orderly manner.Relevant penalties shall be imposed promptly and sternly: anyone found to have failed to perform their duties shall be held accountable, while illegal petition activities disrupting normal public order shall be severely cracked down on to boost handling efficiency and realize the settlement of cases together with resolution of related disputes at an early date.Follow-up and handling of key petition-related matters shall be intensified to forestall social risks stemming from petition issues. For individual specific petition cases, responsibilities shall be clearly defined, special working groups shall be set up to press ahead with resolution efforts, priority shall be given to eliminating problems at source, work styles shall be improved, and substantive settlement of grievances shall be delivered.
