On June 5th, an on-site meeting on workplace safety in the forestry field within Huaihua was held in Zhijiang Dong Autonomous County. In the meeting, the spirit of important instructions and directives by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on workplace safety, flood control and disaster relief, as well as the spirit of relevant Hunan provincial and Huaihua municipal meetings on flood control and workplace safety was conveyed and studied, and the work of identifying and rectifying hidden hazards in flood control and workplace safety across the city was arranged.
Since the beginning of this year, the forestry field in Huaihua has resolutely shouldered its responsibilities for forest fire prevention and disposing measures at the early stage of fire, fully implemented various measures, and successively carried out special actions such as the investigation of major flood hazards. Thus, there have been no disaster-related casualties and workplace safety accidents in the early stage of forest fire prevention and multiple rounds of heavy rainfall, effectively protecting the safety of people’s lives and property.
Following the unified arrangement of the Provincial Forestry Bureau, from May to the end of December this year, the forestry field in Huaihua will conduct routine, full-scale investigations and identifications covering all domains, all links, and all units. The focus will be on five core risk areas: forest fire hazards, flood and geological disasters in forested areas, traffic safety in forest areas, forest tourism safety, and safety in forest product processing, construction, and forestry/land use. A tracking ledger will be set up for all identified hazards, with a verification and closure system. General hazards will be rectified immediately, while major hazards must be resolved within a set deadline under closed-loop management.
It is required in the meeting that the forestry bureaus of all counties (cities and districts) promptly set up dedicated task forces, and establish a list on hazards, a responsibility list, and a rectification list. Major hazards shall be managed under the “one list and four systems” approach to achieve dynamic elimination. Coordination and collaboration with departments such as emergency management, public security, natural resources, meteorology, and electric power shall be strengthened. In conjunction with the 25th “Workplace Safety Month” campaign, the “Five Entries (into enterprises, villages, communities, schools, and families)” safety awareness campaign will be further advanced.
