On the morning of May 12, the 2026 Hunan (Huaihua) RCEP Economic and Trade Investment & "Hunan Premium Products Go Global" Foreign Trade Industry Supply-Demand Matchmaking Event was held.

Municipal Party Committee Secretary Wei Zhaohui attended and delivered a welcome speech. Shen Yumou, Party Leadership Group Secretary and Director of the Provincial Department of Commerce, also addressed the audience. Chen Jieying, Vice Chairwoman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (concurrently serving as Party Leadership Group Secretary and Chairwoman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese), was present. Deng Luoxing, Member of the Leading Party Members Group and Vice President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Hunan Province Committee, delivered remarks. The event was presided over by He Zunqing, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Political and Legal Affairs Commission. Also in attendance were Li Qianwan, Director of the Municipal People’s Congress Standing Committee, along with municipal leaders Peng Handan, Li Weilin, Yin Peiguo, Zheng Xiaohu, and others.

On behalf of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, Wei Zhaohui extended a warm welcome and expressed sincere gratitude to all distinguished guests.

She noted that Huaihua is a vital node city on the eastern route of the New International Land–Sea Trade Corridor and the only freight consolidation center in Hunan facing ASEAN. Under the strong leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, the city has anchored itself to the blueprint of the “Three Highlands and Four News” strategy, deeply integrated into the joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative, connected the world through the New International Land–Sea Trade Corridor, and linked the globe via the Huaihua International Land Port—composing a new chapter in building Hunan into a highland of reform and opening-up in inland China.

Wei extended a heartfelt invitation to all present to join in the “four commitments”:

    an openness pact,

    an entrepreneurship pact,

    a city partnership pact, and

    a culture–tourism pact.

She encouraged guests to become “trendsetters” riding the wave of maritime ambition, investors in industrial growth, partners in regional collaboration, and ambassadors for the blessed land of Huaihua.

Wei Zhaohui, Secretary of the CPC Huaihua Municipal Committee, delivered a welcome speech.

In his address, Shen Yumou stated that Huaihua bears the historic responsibility of building a strategic gateway city on the New International Land–Sea Trade Corridor and serving as Hunan’s only freight consolidation center for ASEAN. He noted that the city is embracing ASEAN and connecting with the world with unprecedented enthusiasm.

He added that Hunan will rely on the RCEP Economic and Trade Expo to further densify the corridor network, promote industrial synergy, optimize the trade ecosystem, and strengthen institutional mechanisms, thereby elevating Hunan–ASEAN cooperation to new heights.

Shen Yumou, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Department of Commerce, delivered a speech.

In his address, Deng Luoxing stated that the conference focused on supply-demand matchmaking, aiming to efficiently align Hunan’s characteristic products and competitive industries with global procurement needs, ensuring that the benefits of open cooperation truly take root and deliver tangible results. He emphasized that the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Hunan Province Committee (CCPIT Hunan) will fully leverage its functional strengths, utilize global cooperation resources, establish diverse cooperation platforms, and refine long-term cooperation mechanisms. These efforts are designed to support enterprises in expanding overseas, exploring global markets, and effectively linking into the international circulation.

Deng Luoxing, Member of the Leading Party Members Group and Vice President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Hunan Committee, delivered a speech.

At the matchmaking event, Lü Kejian, Senior Fellow at the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) and former Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce, Lee Dae-Yong, Chief Representative of the Changsha Office of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), and Guo Jiahong, Honorary President of the Malaysia-China General Chamber of Commerce, delivered speeches in sequence. Mu Xiaofeng, Head of the Municipal Forestry Bureau, and Mou Xiaofeng, Chairman of Hunan Xiangtong Industrial Co., Ltd., each gave industry promotion presentations. Xiong Canxin, Minister of the Trade and Investment Promotion Department at the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Commercial Sub-Council, announced the procurement requirements of international buyers.

Xu Weichun, President of the Hellenic Chinese Chamber of Commerce; Liu Weiyong, President of the Modena Chinese Chamber of Commerce (Italy); Abdullah Elfried, Vice Chairman of the Africa-China Cooperation and Development Investment Association; officials from relevant departments of Hunan and Guangxi; as well as representatives from domestic and international commercial associations, overseas Chinese leaders and entrepreneurs, renowned enterprises from both inside and outside Huaihua, professional buyers, and financial institutions were all in attendance.

Following the promotion sessions, 50 local enterprises held one-on-one discussions with over 100 global buyers, resulting in the signing of 14 letters of intent worth a total of 211 million yuan. These agreements covered a wide range of products, including food, electronics, sporting goods, power equipment, bamboo products, and luggage and bags. Additionally, the matchmaking event featured four parallel inspection and docking activities focused on key industries, which are expected to yield a number of cooperation agreements in the fields of the International Land Port, luggage manufacturing, cultural and sports goods, and cultural tourism.
