To further advance technology on orchard production mechanization in the hilly and mountainous areas of Huaihua and boost the quality and upgrading of the city’s citrus industry, from March 4 to 5, Song Zhiyu, director of the Scientific and Technological Workstation for Orchard Production Mechanization in Hilly and Mountainous Areas at the Nanjing Institute of Agricultural Mechanization, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, led an expert team to Huaihua for activities including scientific and technological cooperation on orchard equipment, industrial research, and scientific and technological services. Relevant officials from Huaihua Academy of Agricultural Sciences accompanied the research and held in-depth exchanges.
The expert team went deep into citrus planting bases in Hongjiang City and Zhongfang County successively, inspecting the modern greenhouse planting facilities for citrus and the production status of citrus orchards in hilly and mountainous areas on the spot. At the research site, Song Zhiyu and his entourage learned in detail about the local citrus planting mode, bottlenecks in mechanization application, and industrial development needs. Focusing on key issues such as mechanized operation of mountain orchards and intelligent planting management, they provided face-to-face technical guidance to front-line growers and technicians, offering professional advice for industrial development.
In the subsequent forum with Huaihua Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the two sides had in-depth discussions on the efficient promotion of scientific and technological cooperation projects and reached consensus on expanding cooperation depth, strengthening talent training, and accelerating the demonstration and promotion of achievements. Both sides clarified that they would rely on the platform of the scientific and technological workstation, focus on the pain points of orchard production in Huaihua’s hilly and mountainous areas, jointly carry out technical research, build demonstration bases, cultivate local technical talents, and drive the large-scale, standardized and intelligent development of the citrus industry through scientific and technological innovation.
This research and cooperation negotiation is not only a concrete measure for Huaihua Academy of Agricultural Sciences to continuously implement the relevant regulations of the municipal Party committee and government on the high-quality development of Huaihua’s citrus industry, but also builds a solid bridge for deepening cooperation with top domestic scientific research teams in agricultural mechanization technology for orchards in hilly and mountainous areas. In the future, the two sides will join hands to tailor advanced and applicable agricultural equipment and full-process mechanized production technical regulations for Huaihua’s orchards, actively promote the transformation and implementation of scientific research achievements in Huaihua, and inject new vitality into the manufacturing of agricultural equipment and the high-quality development of the citrus industry in Huaihua.
