On the morning of January 28, the Banqiaopu Community in Yingfeng Street, Hecheng District organized a New Year Ciba pounding activity at the Junlongfu Plaza of Dahan Longcheng. The scene was filled with joy and a peaceful, heartwarming festive atmosphere.
"Uncles and aunties, please come here to sign in and claim your coupons." Community volunteers in red vests warmly guided residents to collect Ciba and Spring Festival couplets with their coupons. At the scene, the entire process of making glutinous rice cakes—from washing and steaming the rice to pounding and shaping them—was showcased step by step. Meanwhile, experienced calligraphers from the community took up their brushes on the spot, creating auspicious Spring Festival couplets with flowing strokes and handing them to residents.
"The event was originally planned for Friday, but considering the beautiful weather today, we came early in the morning to set up the venue," said Liu Daiguo, Party secretary of the community, while coordinating on-site and speaking to the reporter.
The site also featured informational display boards covering topics such as precautions for smoking cured meat, regulations on fireworks and firecracker restrictions, and knowledge about safe electricity and fire usage. Community staff distributed promotional pamphlets to residents as well. To cater to needs of elderly residents, the event specially invited staff from local health centers to provide free blood pressure measurements and health consultations. Additionally, a travel agency was present to offer travel advisory services, bringing together various resources from the community to provide convenience for residents.
It is reported that the community organizes corresponding activities during every traditional festival, such as making zongzi during the Dragon Boat Festival, providing free haircuts for the elderly on the Double Ninth Festival, and preparing Tangyuan for the Lantern Festival. These efforts continuously foster a vibrant festive atmosphere, further strengthening community cohesion, and contributing to a strong sense of community.
