On October 3, 2025, under the guidance of the Huaihua Municipal Ethnic Affairs Bureau, the Huaihua Ethnic Unity and Progress Association organized a “Unity in Diversity” painting activity. Over 100 young people from Han, Dong, Miao, and Tujia ethnic groups gathered together, using brushes as their medium to collaboratively create a long scroll painting themed on ethnic unity.
At the event site on the second floor of Tongcheng Plaza, a 100-meter-long canvas was laid out across the space, with an array of colored paints and brushes neatly arranged. Youth from various ethnic groups gathered around the canvas and quickly immersed themselves in creation: some bent down to sketch the outlines of 56 ethnic figures holding hands, others dipped their brushes to fill in the pomegranate motif symbolizing unity, while some added ethnic elements like Dong ethnic drum towers and Miao ethnic silver ornaments in the corners of the painting. Working together with seamless coordination, the patterns on the canvas gradually became more vivid and dynamic over time.
After two hours of creation, a vivid and brightly colored hundred-meter-long scroll, rich in ethnic charm, was fully completed. It vividly depicts the harmonious scenes of people from various ethnic groups living together and celebrating the double festival.
The association leader stated that the creation of the 100-meter scroll painting deepened the youth’s understanding of ethnic unity through hands-on practice. In the future, more activities such as painting and handicrafts will be organized to instill the concept of ethnic unity in the hearts of young people.
