On October 22, Huaihua hosted an event themed with "Promoting the Integrated Development of Culture and Tourism". It was the special report session of the 15th Hunan Provincial Social Sciences Academic Annual Conference. Organized by the Hunan Federation of Social Sciences, it was supported by Huaihua University, Huaihua Municipal Committee Propaganda Department, and Huaihua Federation of Social Sciences. Hu Daisong, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and vice chairman of the Hunan Federation of Social Sciences, made a speech, and Hu Chen, member of the Standing Committee of the Huaihua Municipal Committee and Head of the Propaganda Department, delivered a welcoming address.

Hu pointed out that for a long time, the Huaihua Municipal Committee and Huaihua Municipal Government have prioritized the work of philosophy and social sciences, thereby providing a strong guarantee for the prosperity and development of social sciences in the city. He hoped that the Huaihua Federation of Social Sciences would unite and lead most social science workers in the city. This means that we should take this academic annual conference as a new starting point and better carry out the cultural mission of the new era in order to promote the integrated development of culture and tourism and provide "Huaihua Wisdom" for the high-quality development of the province's culture and tourism sector.

Hu stated that in recent years, Huaihua has deemed the cultural and tourism industry as one of its five leading industries. Having drawn upon the opportunity to host the Fifth Hunan Tourism Development Conference(HTDC), the city has polished its new urban image as "Huaihua, a Blessed Land that Makes You Feel at Home". The city that started its humble beginnings as a transportation hub initially is now in the process of becoming a tourist destination. Capitalizing upon this conference, Huaihua will amply absorb and internalize the insights and suggestions from experts and scholars, seize opportunities, build momentum, and solidly advance the follow-up work of the HTDC. This will ensure a successful conclusion of Huaihua's 14th Five-Year Plan as well as a powerful springboard for its 15th Five-Year Plan.

Theme-related speeches were also addressed by four social science experts. They are Zheng Qunming, Li Wuwang, Fang Lei, and Luo Li.
