In midsummer, Gaozhuang Village of Gongping Town, Zhijiang Dong Autonomous County is ushering in its sweetest season, with thousands of acres of yellow peach orchards filled with rich fruity fragrance. Tie Zhen, a local internet celebrity who has over 2 million followers launched her first live-stream sales in order to expand online channels for her hometown's yellow peaches.
Tiezhen, born Liang Zhangyan, is a native of the village. She has gained fame by sharing rural life and farming anecdotes through song-and-dance short videos. Currently she is boasting 2.66 million followers across platforms. This year, she contacted the village committee to try live-stream sales for the first time, bringing her hometown's premium fruits into the "traffic era".
To ensure livestream quality, she has made thorough preparations: learning sales techniques, taste-testing peaches at different ripeness levels for optimal flavor, and designing promises like "picked fresh from orchard" and "compensation for damaged fruits". In her words, as this was her first livestream sales event, there was much to learn. But she always wanted to contribute to the local revenue to the benefit of villagers by selling hometown agricultural products at decent prices nationwide.
The village has 1,200 mu (about 200 acres) of yellow peach orchards with annual output exceeding 1 million kg. In the past, the village relied mainly on offline wholesale and tourist picking, resulting in long sales cycles and significant loss. This year, however, the village committee adopted a "specialty fruits + e-commerce assistance" model to promote agricultural product sales, putting local yellow peaches on the fast track of online sales.
In recent years, Zhijiang has increased support for farmer-assistance e-commerce training, through the use of "influencer economy" to boost rural revitalization, thus promoting the local quality agricultural products nationwide and enhancing industrial efficiency and farmers' income as well.
