On the morning of June 29, Xu Zhongjian, secretary of the CPC Huaihua Municipal Committee, conducted a site visit to inspect work concerning urban quality improvement of the main city area and the design of Yushuwan tourism products. He emphasized the necessity to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Culture and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on tourism development, comprehensively carry out the decisions and deployments of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, as well as the specific requirements of the provincial organizing committee, deeply practice the concept of people-centered cities, focus on the goal of promoting urban development through hosting events, and strive to improve urban infrastructure to enhance people’s sense of gain.

Xu Zhongjian visited sections including the Citizen Square segment of Yingfeng Middle Road, the north side of Hutian Bridge, Wanda Plaza, and the Huaixi section of Dondmeng Avenue to inspect the renovation of old urban residential communities and public restrooms, the construction of pedestrian overpasses, and the design of tourism signage. After inspecting the progress of construction projects at Yushuwan, he presided over a coordination meeting, hearing progress reports and discussing specific matters to determine future work.

Xu Zhongjian stressed at the meeting that in implementing the urban quality enhancement initiative, efforts must adhere to achieving significant results with minimal expenditure or no cost, focus on a combination of both immediate and long-term benefits as well as localized and widespread improvements, and strive to build a tourism city. The public should be mobilized to participate in the initiatives concerning urban quality improvement. The renovation of existing public restrooms should be prioritized; in areas with dense pedestrian flow, new public restrooms should be built, and facility management strengthened to maintain a clean and tidy environment. Efforts should focus on improving traffic efficiency on main urban roads, enhancing the management of underground pedestrian passages, constructing new pedestrian overpasses in densely populated areas such as schools and markets according to actual needs, and optimizing the installation of traffic lights, zebra crossings, and traffic islands.
Xu pointed out that Yushuwan should adhere to the concept of developing tourism through holding cultural events and exploring cultural products with modern technology.
