In recent days, the flood control in Huaihua has been severe. Torrential rains have severely damaged communication facilities, with many optical cables washed away and base station signals interrupted. Upon hearing the “flood alarm”, China Telecom Huaihua Branch promptly established a working mechanism of “coordination between cities and counties with multi - party efforts”, launching a battle of fixing and protecting communications, going all out to ensure smooth communication and building a communication lifeline for flood control and disaster relief.

The company formed several emergency repair commando teams and urgently allocated emergency supplies, with the team members rushing to the disaster-stricken sites in the rain. During the repairing, the team members encountered numerous obstacles such as road collapses and rapid water flows, yet no one feared them. They carried equipment on their shoulders or by hand, trekked through muddy roads, and raced against time to troubleshoot faults. They carried out communication repair  with all their might through measures such as temporarily stringing wires, splicing optical cables, and activating emergency base stations.

In Daheping Township, Yuanling County, upon arriving at the damaged optical cable point, the repair team members, despite the fatigue from the journey and hunger, immediately plunged into the repair. They cleared road obstacles, accurately located the breakpoints, and efficiently spliced the optical cables, striving to restore communication in time. In severely-hit areas such as Tongdao County Seat and Shuangjiang Town, facing the dangerous situations of rapid water flow and complex environments, a 21-member rescue team divided into several groups and forged ahead. They raced against time to restore 7 base stations. For 60 fallen poles, they adopted the principle of “restoring first and repairing later” for temporary restoration, ensuring the rapid recovery of the communication network.

As of 16:00 on June 21, China Telecom Huaihua Branch has put into practice the 2 advanced backpack base stations, 6 satellite phones, and 15 generator sets for the sake of disaster relief emergencies. Through rapid response and effective repair, the company has successfully restored a large number of communication facilities such as base stations, fallen poles, and optical cables damaged by floods, ensuring smooth communication for government emergency command, rescue dispatch, and affected people, providing solid communication support for flood control and disaster relief.

At present, the rain is still continuing, and China Telecom Huaihua Branch will continue to repair and strengthen damaged facilities to improve the disaster resistance of the communication network.
