On June 13th, 2025, the Zimbabwe Business Forum of the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo was held at the Hunan Free Port International Exchange Center. Huaihua was invited to participate in the forum.

In recent years, Huaihua has actively promoted practical local cooperation under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, continuously deepening  colaboration. For three consecutive years, city level leaders have led visits to Africa and carried out a series of economic and trade docking activities. In the subsequent exchanges, Huaihua and Zimbabwe not only deepened mutual trust and communication, but also facilitated the signing of intention agreements by enterprises such as Xinhuang Shunfa and Chenfa Jietan Tea in Zimbabwe. From January to April this year, Huaihua achieved imports and exports of 4.569 million yuan to Zimbabwe, a year-on-year increase of 226.9%, showing a strong growth momentum.

Huaihua continues to expand its trade with Africa. Hercules Company has signed an intention order of 10 million US dollars with African Africa-Asia International Investment Co., Ltd. based on advanced energy storage technology and product cost-effectiveness advantages. The products mainly involve energy storage products, including residential energy storage and industrial and commercial energy storage equipment. The luggage samples of Mayang’s Senjia have won the favor of Zimbabwe AE Electric Company and reached a purchase intention on the spot. In the future, the company plans to optimize product design based on the preferences of African consumers, expand the African market, create regional popular luggage brands, further showcase the quality of Huaihua’s luggage products, and help promote the development of the luggage industry.

Huaihua continues to promote investment in Africa. The chromium iron smelting plant project jointly built by Xinhuang Shunfa Ferroalloy and China Steel Group has made key progress, with plans to land in Quequee City, Zimbabwe, and invest about 70 million yuan to renovate the ore blast furnace. This project will fully utilize Zimbabwe’s high-quality chromite resources and enhance the on-site deep processing capacity of the ore. After completion, the project can achieve an annual import of about 200,000 tons of raw ore. At the same time, after the project is put into operation, it can absorb local labor, promote technical exchanges, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Huaihua supports local enterprises to go abroad and enter each other, engage in trade and investment, and continuously expand economic and trade cooperation with Zimbabwe in agriculture, infrastructure development, tourism, mineral development, and other areas. The next step is to organize more Zimbabwean enterprises to visit Huaihua for inspection, tourism, investment and development.

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Amon Mulwila, and city leader, Li Weilin, attended the event.
