The Hunan Seminar on the 35th National Land Day Promotion and Farming Culture and Cultivated-land Protection held in Huaihua
To impart farming culture and guard the red line of cultivated land
On June 25th, the specific seminar was carried out in Huaihua with the purpose of imparting farming culture and guarding the red line of cultivated land.
Attendees included leaders and experts, such as Li Quansheng, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Department of Natural Resources of Hunan Government; Liu Zhonghua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Hunan Normal University; Bai Lianyang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Li Jianzhong, Deputy Director of the Department of Land Space Ecological Restoration of the Ministry of Natural Resources; Chen Zhongbo, Director of the Population, Resources and Environment Committee of the Political Consultative Conference of Hunan Government; Min Qingwen, Deputy Director and Researcher of the Natural and Cultural Heritage Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Yun Wenju, Director and Researcher of the Land Engineering Technology Innovation Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources; Ouyang Zhijun and Song Cheng, members of the Party Group and Deputy Directors of Department of Natural Resources of Hunan Government; Zheng Xiaohu, member of the Standing Committee of Party Committee and Secretary of the Hongjiang Municipal Party Committee; and Hu Heping, Deputy Mayor of Huaihua Municipal Government.
In his keynote report, Li emphasized the important status that Hunan takes in Chinese farming civilization. In his words, imparting farming culture and guarding the red line of cultivated land will contribute to a feat of immortality. This means that it is necessary to reach a consensus on land protection and have awe for the land. It is necessary to defend the red line of cultivated land and abide by the rules. It is necessary to improve the quality of cultivated land by capitalizing upon the "wisdom of intensive farming". It is necessary to optimize the production pattern under the guidance of the "governance of symbiosis". It is also necessary to promote the value of the times with the "key of innovation". As a result, we could jointly carry forward the millennium-old farming heritage and protect each and every inch of the fertile land, thus ensuring that Hunan invariably enjoys its reputation of being a "bounty and copious granary of China".
As the seminar proceeded with farming culture and cultivated land protection, Liu, Bai, Min and Yun delivered keynote speeches respectively. Their speeches ran a wide gamut of contents concerning Research Results on Inheritance and Development of Huxiang Farming Culture,Inheritance, Protection of Rice Civilization and Technological Innovation,and Chinese-Style Agricultural and Rural Modernization and Urban-Rural Integrated Development. The seminar then promoted paradigms of Hunan-based farming inheritance and development, including Yuchanyan Site in Daoxian, Gaomiao Site, Museum of the Origin of Hybrid Rice, Chengtoushan Site, and Ziquejie Terraced Fields.
This event also released excellent cases of farming culture and cultivated-land protection and reform and innovation cases of land activation and efficiency enhancement, both of which ranked top ten in Hunan. Afterwards, representatives from all walks of life jointly launched the Anjiang Initiative on Carrying Forward Farming Culture and Guarding the Red Line of Cultivated Land, and initiated the publicity in the two respects.
