Since the beginning of this year, Huaihua Zhijiang Airport has adhered to the simultaneous promotion of restoring air routes and opening new ones. Through multi-party coordination with various airlines, it has launched two new routes: Nanjing-Huaihua-Kunming and Chengdu-Huaihua-Quanzhou. The airport plans to restore Huaihua-Shanghai route during the Spring Festival travel rush in 2024.
As of November 30, the airport has operated a total of six routes, reaching ten destinations. Meanwhile, leveraging the opportunity of city tourism hotspots being promoted by municipal and county cultural and tourism departments, it has intensified the promotion of its routes through its branch offices. It has established an information-sharing mechanism and a converged media contact mechanism with various counties and districts in Huaihua, facilitating the convening of joint meetings on route development and forums on the integrated development of aviation and tourism.
In collaboration with airlines, Tongcheng Travel, and Ctrip, it has launched activities such as bringing civil aviation into campuses and special discounted tickets. It has also cooperated with the Huaihua Transportation Channel to feature route and flight promotions as well as brand daily, jointly enhancing its publicity. Through diversified promotion efforts, the airport has tapped into potential passenger sources, resulting in a noticeable increase in passengers from other counties and cities coming to the airport, thereby boosting aircraft occupancy rates and expanding the consumer base. From January to November, the cumulative passenger throughput reached 409,600, a year-on-year increase of 18.71%, while the number of flight takeoffs and landings stood at 4,032, up 7.81% year-on-year.
To further enhance its services, the airport launched a volunteer service campaign during the Spring Festival travel rush. It intensified efforts to quickly address congestion caused by large numbers of passengers undergoing security checks and provided services to allow passengers traveling in group to check-in in advance with appointments. In collaboration with the Mayang High-Speed Rail Station, the airport organized exchange visits to promote intermodal transportation. From January to November, the airport provided services to 1,403 special passengers and received 59 letters of commendation and one commendation banner from passengers.
