On the afternoon of November 18th, the 2024 High Quality Development Conference of Luggage and Leather Goods Industry, jointly hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industry Crafts and Huaihua Municipal People's Government, was held in Huaihua. Xu Zhongjian, Secretary of Huaihua Municipal Party Committee, and Li Wenfeng, Vice President of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industry Crafts, attended and delivered speeches. Other leaders of Huaihua city such as Zou Xingwang and Han Xiaobo attended the meeting too.
Xu, on behalf of Huaihua Municipal Party Committee and Government, expressed sincere gratitude to all entrepreneurs, business associations, and people from all walks of life who have long cared for and supported the development of Huaihua in his speech. He noted that currently, Huaihua is deeply studying and implementing the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, as well as the important speeches and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping's inspection of Hunan. With the goal of achieving “Three Highlands and Four Innovations” blueprint and “Five New Missions and Four Orientations” strategy, Huaihua is accelerating the construction of the luggage and leather goods industry as one of the 10 key industrial chains and three characteristic industrial clusters in the city. Huaihua has become the first region in China to build a luggage and leather goods production base at the municipal level. Currently, it has gathered 116 enterprises on the chain, introduced investment of 8.4 billion yuan, and initially achieved the layout of the entire industry chain, thus an “International Luggage Manufacturing Base” has taken shape. Xu sincerely invited every entrepreneur to experience the infinite charm of Huaihua, a “Blessed Land”, the birthplace of hybrid rice, and a place with beautiful landscape, attractive culture, and tasty food. Xu added that Huiahua’s government sincerely looks forward to every entrepreneur becoming a good “partner” in Huaihua's “second start of a new undertaking”, paying attention to Huaihua, supporting Huaihua, and investing in Huaihua. Huaihua people’s government will do its best and do everything in its power to serve investors so as to make everyone thrive and achieve win-win development in Huaihua.

Afterwards, Li Wenfeng, Vice President of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industry Crafts, delivered a speech. Li said in his speech that Huaihua, with its unique geographical advantages and resource endowments, is a popular place for investment and a highland for innovation and development. Huaihua regards the luggage and leather goods industry as a key support for its three characteristic industries, attracting increasing number of business cooperators and investors. Now, Huaihua has become a “new star” in the development of the national luggage industry, creating an international luggage industry cluster with a promising future. The China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industry Crafts will continue to play an active role as a bridge and link, providing better services for luggage and bag enterprises. We hope that Huaihua and luggage enterprises can strengthen communication and cooperation, explore new paths for industry development together, and jointly promote the Huaihua luggage industry to move towards a higher level.

At the meeting, Liu Jiejiao, a second level researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Institute of Industrial Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, also delivered a keynote speech titled "Strategies for Undertaking the Transfer of Luggage Industry from the Perspective of Industrial Chain in the Western Region". Mou Xiaofeng, Chairman of Hunan Xiangtong Industrial Co., Ltd., Yi Qiang, Chairman of Guangdong Qiya Exhibition Technology Co., Ltd., Song Wenming, President of Guangzhou Huadu Shiling Leather Association and Chairman of Guangzhou Obia Leather Industry Co., Ltd., Peng Chunru, President of Huaihua Luggage and Leather Industry Association and Chairman of Hunan Tujia Luggage Co., Ltd., and Liu Xiangrong, Chairman of China Inspection Group Central China Regional Headquarters, made keynote speeches respectively too. Cao Aijun, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Huaihua Branch of Agricultural Bank of China, issued financial product of “Luggage Loan” to support the development of luggage industry of Huaihua. The head from Huaihua Municipal Bureau of Commerce had investment introduction and leather goods promotion and projects signing ceremonies were also held in the meeting, with a total of 27 projects signed.
Other key attendants of the conference included Lei Mingzhi, head of Hunan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology and Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, and head of expert group of the Hunan Leather Industry Association; Lu Chuan, director of Anhui Light Industry International Trade Co., Ltd.; Ding Zhongrong, honorary president of the Ningbo Leather Industry Association and chairman of Ningbo Shengfa Tourism Products Co., Ltd., as well as representatives of national luggage and leather goods enterprises, trade associations, foreign trade e-commerce, and professional purchasers.
