On July 19th, 2024, the training course for Hunan provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage management personnel was held in Huaihua. Yuan Yueping, member of the Party Group and deputy director of Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Hu Chen, deputy mayor, attended the course.

The training lasted for two days and was divided into expert lectures and on-site teaching. Three experts and scholars were invited to teach the students on the new trends of Intangible Cultural Heritage protection, the development of “double innovation” in Intangible Cultural Heritage in the digital age, and legislative amendments to Intangible Cultural Heritage protection.

In recent years, Hunan Province has continuously launched the provincial plan, highlighted Hunan’s characteristics, voiced Hunan’s voice, formed Hunan’s brand, and unfolded a colorful and charming picture of Hunan’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, said Yuan Yueping. At present, in order to do a good job in the work of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the new era, it is necessary to handle the relationship between “inheritance” and “development”, “upholding integrity” and “innovation”, and “meaning” and “significance”. Efforts should be made to lay a solid foundation, increase vitality, and promote integration, focusing on strengthening the foundation and making Intangible Cultural Heritage “charming”. It requires to focus on serving the overall situation and make Intangible Cultural Heritage “engaging”, focus on integrated development and make Intangible Cultural Heritage “flourish”, focus on dissemination and promotion, make Intangible Cultural Heritage “popular”, and strive to promote more practical achievements in the provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage cause.

In recent years, Huaihua City has vigorously implemented the “Illuminate Huaihua with Intangible Cultural Heritage” action, explored a new model of inheritance and development of “playing with Intangible Cultural Heritage, earning points, and enjoying Huaihua”, and built an industrial closed loop of “intangible cultural heritage dissemination+experience+consumption”, making the revitalization and utilization of Intangible Cultural Heritage a powerful lever for building a regional consumption center city.
