During an inspection tour to the Huaihua International Land port on the morning of April 14, Li Chunqiu, deputy secretary of the CPC Huaihua Municipal Committee and mayor of Huaihua City, stressed the need to thoroughly implement the important speeches and instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his visit to Hunan and the decisions and deployment of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Huan Provincial People’s Government to speed up the construction of port-neighboring industries and meet the target number of freight train trips. Municipal leaders Yin Peiguo, Zou Xingwang and Ma Yuan accompanied Li on the inspection tour.
At the meeting chaired by Mr. Li, issues related to research on cassava industry, the planning and design of the multimodal transportation center and the freight train services were reported by the Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, the Huaihua International Land Port Economic Development Zone and the Huaihua International Land Port Company respectively. Relevant municipal departments presented their corresponding comments and suggestions.
After listening to the reports, Li noted that the cassava industry should be a priority focus when the development of port-neighboring industries is concerned. The Huaihua International Land Port Economic Development Zone and the Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology should jointly set up a task group for cassava trade and processing and establish an online cassava trading platform to reduce operating costs. The design of the multimodal transportation center should be improved by taking into consideration local elements such as the cargo structure, characteristics of cold chain logistics and reduction of enterprise logistics costs in order to launch the project as soon as possible. Efforts should be made to enhance cooperation with freight forwarders to meet the target number of freight train trips while optimizing the structure of transport capacity.
