On the morning of May 19 (Malawi time), the China (Huaihua)-Malawi Investment and Trade Promotion Conference was held in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi.Entrusted by Hunan Provincial people’s Government, Han Xiaobo, vice mayor of Huaihua Municipal people’s Government, made an introduction to the Third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo andthe conditions of Hunan Province and Huaihua City, and invited Malawian representativesworking in government and enterprises to participate in the Third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo. Nearly 60 representatives from relevant departments of the Malawian government, business associations, and Malawi-Chinese enterprises in Malaysia attended the conference.

At the conference, Zhong Yuebo, deputy secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Management Committee of Huaihua International Land Port Economic Development Zone, made a special introduction to Huaihua International Land Port.Diamond Zikasu, deputy director of the Investment Department of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Malawi, attended the conference and made a keynote speech, expressing the hope that the two countries will have more long-term cooperation in the economic, agricultural and other fields.

Hunan Zhushui Tourism Development Co., Ltd., an accompanying enterprise in this conference, signed theFramework Agreement on Exchange and Cooperation in Cultural Tourism with the Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce in Malawi. The two sides plan to mobilize the Chamber of Commerce to raise USD 200 million to jointly set up a tourism development investment company, making full use of Huaihua as the birthplace of hybrid rice, the purpose of which is to build a cultural tourism brand with Chinese and African characteristics.

Xiaobo led the team to visit the Chinese Embassy in Malawi, went to Malawi Salima to inspect the investment project made by Fengshou (bumper harvest) Agricultural Company in Malaysia, and visited Samuel Daliso Kavale, the minister of Ministry of Agriculture of Malawi. Besides, Xiaobo made an in-depth communication with the minister on the development of traditional Chinese medicine resources, fruit cultivation, tea cultivation, grain and oil production, seed cultivation and other agricultural industries.
