In 2025, Huaihua City had 6,000 logistics-related enterprises, including 1,217 wholesale, retail, accommodation, and catering enterprises above the designated size. The ratio of total social logistics costs to GDP has decreased by 14.2%, and the social logistics costs per unit of GDP have declined year by year. Currently there are 58 various specialized markets and freight stations in the city’s urban area, with a total warehousing area of 1.2 million square meters, a completed cold storage capacity of 403,500 tons, and a cold storage capacity of 353,800 tons under construction. The commerce and logistics industry will absorb approximately 798,000 people into employment, becoming one of the city’s leading industries. The city’s total retail sales of consumer goods reached 81.28 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%, ranking 5th in the province, exceeding the national and provincial averages by 0.9 and 1 percentage points respectively.
In recent years, Huaihua City has been included in a number of national-level projects, such as a national logistics hub for trade and service industries, a national multimodal transport demonstration project, and a national cold chain logistics base. The provincial government has positioned Huaihua as a key city connecting the Western Land-Sea New Corridor strategy and a freight hub for ASEAN, providing strong support. Large-scale commercial complexes such as Wanda, BBK, Huashengtang, and Jinxiu Wuxi have diversified their development, continuously enriching their commercial formats and increasing their integration.
