Huaihua City has 1.6887 million mu (approximately 11.258 hectares) of bamboo forest land, concentrated in five counties including Jingzhou and Huitong. Of that, 680,000 mu of bamboo forest land has obtained FSC certification, and the total bamboo forest resources within a 100-kilometer radius of the surrounding areas reach 3.18 million mu. In recent years, the city has focused on building a national base for bamboo-based new materials manufacturing and export trade, striving to achieve the output value target of 20 billion yuan for the bamboo industry by the end of 2030. Currently, the municipal government has signed a 5-year industry-university-research cooperation agreement with the International Centre for Bamboo and Rattan; Jingzhou County and Huitong County have been approved as “Hometowns of moso bamboo”, and two provincial-level high-quality development parks for the moso bamboo industry have been established, focusing on bamboo fiber products, new bamboo boards, and export-oriented bamboo products, and have initially achieved a clustering effect, possessing favorable conditions for expanding and extending the industry chain; Hongjiang City, Hongjiang District, Huaihua High-tech Zone, and Huaihua Internatinal Land Port Economic Development Zone, relying on their port advantages and existing park platforms, are set to introduce port-related industrial projects of bamboo-based hard carbon anode materials and deep processing of various bamboo products.
In 2025, the city cultivated 47 enterprises above the designated size (including 2 national-level leading enterprises and 10 provincial-level leading enterprises), with a total annual output value of 6.139 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 39.3%. Bamboo products were exported to countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea, Europe, America, and Southeast Asia, with a total of 491 TEUs exported, valued at 114 million yuan. Among them, 442 TEUs were exported through the international land port, a year-on-year increase of 57.86%, demonstrating a strong momentum of industrial development.
