Huaihua International Land Port plays a greater role in facilitating import and export

Over 700 trains in operation in the first three quarters

On October 17, the reporter learned from Huaihua Customs (under the jurisdiction of Changsha Customs) that in the first three quarters of this year, Huaihua International Land Port operated 731 trains, a year-on-year increase of 129.8%. The land port continued to rank first in central China in terms of the number of trains running on the China-Laos Railway, with 261 trains in operation, a year-on-year increase of 574.7%.

With the steady increase in the number of trains, Huaihua International Land Port has played a greater role in facilitating import and export and driving local industrial development and foreign trade upgrading. According to Huaihua Customs, in the first three quarters, Huaihua’s exports of agricultural products, luggage and other products grew rapidly. To be specific, exports of agricultural products reached RMB1.21 billion, a year-on-year increase of 325.3%; luggage exports stood at RMB230 million, a year-on-year increase of RMB94.1%.

Relying on Huaihua International Land Port, imported goods such as tapioca and metallic ores are continuously transported to Huaihua. “By leveraging the logistics advantages of the trains, we imported 15,000 tons of tapioca from Laos in the first three quarters. We will increase imports in the future.” Li Shaomin, head of Hunan Mengmeng International Trade Co., Ltd., told the reporter.

Export shipment also maintains a strong momentum, with main exports including daily necessities, ammonium sulfate and automobiles. “Currently, exports are dominated by automobiles and other high value-added products. In the first three quarters, 781 vehicles were exported through the trains, of which new energy vehicles accounted for 42%,” said Lei Mingxiong, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Huaihua International Land Port Development Co., Ltd.

To ensure the smooth operation of international freight trains, Huaihua Customs has earnestly implemented the key measures of the General Administration of Customs to support the development of the new western land-sea corridor. It has consolidated the collaboration mechanism with primary-level customs authorities along the western land-sea corridor such as Mengla Customs, Pingxiang Customs and Qinzhou Port Customs, so as to unify customs clearance procedures. It has taken solid steps to develop and strengthen smart customs and implemented reform measures such as “advance declaration and direct loading and delivery”. It has proactively promoted efficient models such as “railway fast customs clearance”, with 700 fast customs clearance applications accepted from January to September. It has also opened green channels for the import and export of agricultural products and launched the “7×24” customer clearance appointment service, to ensure smooth train services on holidays.
