On the evening of November 28, the last turnout was precisely connected to the existing line, marking the full completion of the main construction of the special railway line of Huaihua International Land Port, which was undertaken by China Railway No.5 Engineering Group. This breakthrough at a key control point marks a significant advancement in the construction of the land port hub. It not only provides crucial infrastructure for improving the regional logistics system but also injects new and strong momentum into Huaihua’s deep integration into the Belt and Road Initiative and serving the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor strategy.
It is reported that this special line, located within the Huaihua International Land Port Multimodal Transport Area, is an important channel connecting the Huaihua International Land Port LCL Center and the Huaihuaxi Freight Yard, with a total length of approximately 1.37 kilometers. It plays a crucial role in achieving microcirculation in regional railway transport and connecting to the national trunk railway network. The project encompasses roadbed, bridges and culverts, yards, tracks, and integration of the tractive power supply system, electric power supply system, communication system and signaling system, involving high technical standards and complex system integration.
“The construction was like performing delicate surgery alongside existing railway lines, with immense safety pressure,” said the project manager from China Railway No.5 Engineering Group, the contractor. The biggest challenge was that the entire line was constructed adjacent to operating lines, and certain sections are extremely close to existing lines like the busy Shanghai-Kunming line. The construction team developed a special construction plan, introduced real-time monitoring, and implemented full-process protection during all maintenance windows. Thanks to their endeavors, they caused neither disturbance to operating lines nor safety incidents.
As a crucial infrastructure project for promoting high-standard opening up in the inland region, the successful completion of the main construction marks a key advancement of Huaihua City in deeply integrating into the Belt and Road Initiative and serving the development of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. Once completed, this special railway line will further ameliorate the city’s special railway line network, enhance logistics efficiency, reduce logistics costs, greatly improve the cargo collection and distribution system of Huaihua International Land Port, strengthen its capacity to drive the development of regional industries, inject strong momentum into building a modern logistics system and a hub for reform and opening up in the inland region, and provide solid support for Huaihua International Land Port to achieve the strategic goal of increasing the cargo throughput to over 100 million metric tons and bringing the industry scale to above RMB100 billion.
