According to the Changsha Customs Authority, Hunan's exports of "new three"–new energy vehicles (NEVs), lithium-ion batteries, and photovoltaic products–showed a robust growth momentum in the first two months of this year. The export value of these products totaled 1.8 billion CNY, marking a 115.1% year-on-year increase. Among them, the exports of NEVs grew 83.5% to 730 million CNY; that of lithium-ion batteries surged 176.7% to 970 million CNY; and, photovoltaic products rose 13% to 100 million CNY.
The Redsolar New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Hunan's largest solar cell producer and exporter, has demonstrated a remarkable export momentum in the overseas photovoltaic market this year. It has become the second largest supplier in the South Korean photovoltaic market.
During the January-February period, Hunan's private enterprises exported 1.77 billion CNY of "new three" products, surging 138% year on year and accounting for 98.6% of the provincial total "new three" exports. The top two exporters – Changsha BYD Auto Co., Ltd. and Hunan Anker Electronics Technology Co., Ltd.–achieved growth rates of 152.8% and 177.3% respectively.
Changsha and surrounding areas were the main exporting regions, while Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hengyang, and Changsha grew rapidly. In the first two months, Changsha exported 1.54 billion CNY of "new three" products, marking a 174.9% increase and accounting for 85.3% of the city's total exports. Hengyang and Xiangxi exported the "new three" products worth 78.114 million CNY and 52.047 million CNY respectively, increasing by 293.1% and 62.5 times over the previous year.
Mexico, the United States, and India were the top three export destinations. During this period, Hunan's "new three" exports to Mexico, the United States, and India stood at 390 million CNY, 300 million CNY, and 160 million CNY, up 133.1%, 147.3%, and 391.1% respectively.
Meanwhile, exports to the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative amounted to 610 million CNY, up 72.4%; those to other BRICS member countries hit 250 million CNY, soaring 269.8%; and, exports to other RCEP member countries reached 340 million CNY, surging 141.6%.
