On the evening of September 4, the opening ceremony of the 6th Zhijiang (China) International Peace Culture Festival was held at Victory Square in the Peace Culture Park in Zhijiang Dong Autonomous County, Huaihua City. Liu Hongbing, member of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Minister of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee Publicity Department, declared the festival open. Vice Governor Jiang Difei presided over the government affairs section of the ceremony. Jeffrey Green, Chairman of the US-China Aviation Heritage Foundation, and others delivered speeches. A representative from the China People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries read a congratulatory letter from the China People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
The 6th Zhijiang (China) International Peace Culture Festival is hosted by the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, the Hunan Provincial People's Government, and the China People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. The theme is "Promoting a Culture of Peace and Promoting the Building of a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind." Guests attending the festival expressed that this International Peace Culture Festival will further promote international cultural exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, enhance mutual understanding and friendship among peoples of all countries, and inject new vitality into the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
In addition to the opening ceremony, this International Peace Culture Festival will also feature a peace culture exchange symposium and a friendly-agreement signing symposium, and will organize visits to the Memorial Hall of the Acceptance of Surrender in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Flying Tigers Memorial Hall, the Heping Lake and Land Light and Shadow Show, and the Flying Tigers Culture Street.
Those in attendance include relevant officials from national ministries and provincial government agencies, representatives of foreign ambassadors (consuls general) to China, representatives of the US-China Aviation Heritage Foundation, families of Flying Tigers veterans, representatives of international sister cities and friendly individuals, representatives of young international students in China, representatives of domestic and international experts and scholars in peace culture research, veterans of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and their families, representatives of "International Peace Cities," and representatives of the general public.
