On April 19th, 2024, the first Yichang-Huaihua-Qinzhou Port rail-sea intermodal train kicked off with a whistle from Huaihua International Land Port, organized by Yichang as a 46 TEU, 16 million yuan chemical product special train, heading south to Qinzhou Port, and then by sea to the destination of S ã o Paulo Port in Brazil, South America.

It is reported that the chemical products sent out this time have obtained support from the policy of lowering railway freight rates along the line. The domestic freight cost per standard container of goods has been reduced by 2,000 yuan. Compared with traditional river-sea intermodal transportation, the domestic transportation time can be saved by 6 days, and the advantages of cost reduction and efficiency increase are obvious.

The shipment of the Yichang-Huaihua-Qinzhou Port rail-sea intermodal train is a concrete action to implement the spirit of the symposium on promoting high-quality development through coordinated efforts among Hunan, Hubei, and Jiangxi provinces, and to provide more international trade and logistics channels for export-oriented enterprises in Yichang, Hubei and its surrounding areas. At the same time, tropical fruits and other products from Southeast Asia can change the traditional transportation methods of river-sea transportation. They can take a shortcut from Qinzhou Port to Huaihua and take land-rail intermodal transportation directly to Yichang, fully leveraging the safety and speed advantages of railway transportation, which can save about a week of time. The shipment of the train will also play a demonstration role, laying the foundation for larger scale cooperation in the central region.
