On the morning of November 25th, Li Chunqiu, deputy secretary of Huaihua Municipal CPC Committee and Mayor, was in Hecheng District to investigate the inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage, stressing the need to thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles in the keynote speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the forum on cultural inheritance and development, to stay committed to strengthening self-confidence in Chinese culture, to offer to assume cultural mission, and strive to build a distribution center for intangible cultural creation of ethnic groups, aproduction base for intangible cultural productsfrom ethnic groups to export for “Belt and Road Initiative” countries, and a R & D center for intangible cultural creation of ethnic minorities. Yu Jianyong, vice mayor, Dong Zhengyu, dean of Huaihua College, and Li Shizhong, secretary general of the municipal government, attended the investigation.
Li Chunqiu made an investigation of the projects such as the hall for the research and cultivation achievements on intangible cultural heritage in Huaihua University, HongjiangPorcelain Culture and Technology Exhibition, and Yueluli characteristic block renowned as intangible cultural heritage food, then learned in detail about the inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage and block planning, and then presided over a symposium to solicit everyone’s opinions or suggestions on the development of intangible cultural heritage.
Li Chunqiu pointed out, Huaihua, an assembling area for the intangible cultural heritage of ethnic groups, features a profound foundation of cultural connotations. It is home to 16 national and 39 provincial-level projects on intangible cultural heritage, ranking second in the province, indicating that Huaihua has the ability and foundation to be an internet-famous city by means of the inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage. It is of necessity to stay committed to strengthening self-confidence in Chinese culture, to offer to assume cultural mission, and to strive to build a distribution center for intangible cultural creation of ethnic groups, aproduction base for intangible cultural productsfrom ethnic groups to export for “Belt and Road Initiative” countries, and a R & D center for intangible cultural creation of ethnic minorities.
Li Chunqiu demanded that more projects should be prioritized, producing a wide influence upon surrounding areas. Yuelulidistrict is supposed to be the first one to be prioritized, or rather, with the focus upon such attributes as experience, deduction, culture and commerce, we will introduce these projects such as bamboo weaving, Dong brocade, stone carving, wood carving and earthen pottery production. The guiding principle of “combining education with pleasure and business with interest” should be followed fully; and the other business communities should follow the suit, caring more or less about the elements or symbols related to intangible cultural heritage, the purpose of which is to let the tourists who come to Huaihua linger and enjoy them, and people who have never been here are eager to experience them.
The guiding role of the government is supposed to be given full play, and it is all the more necessary to trust the resources of experts and the forces of the market. Cultural and tourism departments should dare to develop new ways of further broadening our horizons and enlightening our thinking, such as hosting a summit forum on the inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage, inviting an expert in such field to Huaihua, and etc., which will turn our ideas into works, our products into commodities, and our commodities into the ones for market trend. It is of necessity to tap deep into the resources related to intangible cultural heritage and look for the successors in intangible cultural heritage. The media like newspapers, television, radio, Internet and others should be fully leveraged to launch a search for the inheritors in intangible cultural heritage in the Huaihua, aiming to let these inheritors feel honored and enjoy a certain reputation so as to awaken their inner sense of mission.
