To implement the arrangements of Hunan Province’s special campaign "Skilled Talents Powering a Prosperous Hunan" for vocational skills training, taking the opportunity of the 12th World Youth Skills Day, our city officially launched the 2026 World Youth Skills Day and Municipal Vocational Skills Promotion Week at the Jiahui Square of the Municipal Party Committee on July 15. The event will run until July 19 and be open to all citizens free of charge throughout the period. Integrating a wide range of activities including hands-on skill experience, policy briefings, master craftsmen demonstrations, and school-enterprise matchmaking, it serves as a one-stop platform for young people, students and job seekers to upgrade their vocational capabilities. The initiative aims to deliver tangible results for the people through skill training livelihood programs and help more workers achieve personal growth and secure employment by mastering professional skills.
Centered on the talent demands of Huaihua’s "5+10" modern industrial system and Huaihua International Land Port, the event leverages the "Skilled Talents Revitalizing Wuxi" Initiative. It pools resources from technical colleges, private training institutions, master craftsman studios and other stakeholders, with exclusive daily themed sessions designed to deliver full-chain services covering skills training, vocational certification and employment support.
The opening day features a Skills Experience Zone divided into five major sectors: elderly care, intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship, digital industries, labor service brands, and comprehensive technical college exhibitions. Citizens can take part in hands-on sessions including elderly care practice, Dong brocade and silver ornament craftsmanship, drone shows, VR skill simulations and industrial robot demonstrations.
A short video contest titled "Cheer for Skilled Talents of Wuxi" has also been launched alongside the event to boost its reach via new media platforms.
Fun and engaging hands-on practice sessions and informative skill demonstrations left citizens feeling rewarded and fulfilled.
"I tried operating a drone here today. It was such a novel and eye-opening experience. I also learned about free vocational training programs. I plan to pick up a practical skill during the holiday," said student Li, who attended the event with delight.
Many local residents commented that the event is down-to-earth and beneficial to the public. They can experience various skills and consult employment policies free of charge right in their neighborhood, which offers tremendous support for their job hunting and income growth.
It is reported that themed special sessions will be held successively over the following four days, including vocational skill policy briefings, master craftsman studio exhibitions, school-enterprise matchmaking events and skilled talent showcase.
On the Policy Day, detailed explanations will be provided on people-benefiting policies such as training subsidies, the new eight-level skilled worker system and the new apprenticeship system. The Master Craftsman Studio Open Day will feature superb craftsmanship demonstrations covering precision machining, electromechanical maintenance, culinary carving and wood carving. The School-Enterprise Matchmaking Day will introduce policies on the integration of industry and education as well as subsidies for related platforms, release a large number of high-quality job vacancies, and build a seamless link between vocational training and employment. The Skilled Talent Showcase Day will present the city’s achievements in cultivating high-skilled personnel and the inspiring stories of exemplary craftsmen.
Adopting immersive and interactive formats, this Vocational Skills Promotion Week allows residents to directly perceive the charm and value of vocational skills, effectively stirring up public enthusiasm for learning and mastering professional techniques.
Going forward, the city will keep advancing the cultivation of skilled talents, regularly organize skill popularization activities, and foster a vibrant social atmosphere that honors labor, values vocational skills and celebrates innovation. It will cultivate more high-caliber skilled personnel to fuel the industrial development of Huaihua.
